Before you ask, yes this blog post has been inspired by David Bowie and his passing yesterday. What you wouldn’t know was that it has also been inspired by Christine Teo, I would encourage you to check out her website Generation 414.
Why did these two beings merge into a blog?
Well due to the passing of David Bowie, the radio and social media is awash with Bowie songs and tributes. My favourite Bowie song is Under Pressure and listening it today the last verse really hit me
Cause love’s such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
~ David Dowie & Freddie Mercury.
This is why all of a sudden I started thinking of Christine and her work with those that are marginalised as far as society are concerned. This a beautiful lady with such an extraordinary heart and soul. Someone who embodies this verse of my favourite song. She does dare to care for the people on the edge of the night, she helps them to care for themselves and she does this with the passion of someone who knows we have one life to lead and she really is not just making the most of her life, but also she helps others to make the most of their lives.
Dare to love
People like Christine Teo, Michael Carniato, and Peter Reginald are people who embody the principle of daring to love. These are people I aspire to be more like. Yes Tony Robbins is great, so is any other Ted talk I want to listen to, but on my door step are these three and many more I know that I can engage with. People with passion; with an overflowing abundance of passion have such a positive effect on everyone around them that you can’t help but want to be around them.
Who are the people in your life that inspire you, I’m not talking about those that inspire us from a great distance, but who do you know that you can ask for a coffee that inspires you?
